About Ngày Gia Tiên

Ngày Gia Tiên ("Ancestor Days") reminds the whole family of death anniversaries (ngày giỗ), memorial days and lunar holidays.

You enter the date a relative died, in the lunar or the solar calendar. The website works out the yearly death anniversary, the 49th and 100th day, and the first and final anniversaries of mourning, using the Vietnamese lunar calendar (Vietnam time, UTC+7) for the years 1900–2199. There is no advertising. The website itself is in Vietnamese.

Dates that follow your family's customs

Each person gets a yearly death anniversary and the milestones after a death: 49 days, 100 days, the first anniversary and the final anniversary (after 2 or 3 years, depending on the family), and the eve of the anniversary (tiên thường) if you want it.
A death in a leap month, or between 11 pm and midnight (the hour of the Rat): you choose how your family counts it, for the whole list or for one person.
An unknown year of death (common for great-grandparents) can still be recorded with the lunar day and month.
A shared anniversary or the anniversary of a clan's founder is recorded as its own entry.

Never miss a date

Upcoming dates are listed nearest first.
Add the dates to your phone's calendar (Google Calendar, Apple Calendar…) with an .ics file, with a reminder the number of days ahead you choose.
A calendar that updates itself: subscribe once, and the calendar on your phone changes when you edit the list.
Add lunar holidays if you want: the 1st and 15th of every lunar month, the Kitchen Gods' day, Lunar New Year (Tết), the Cold Food Festival, Thanh minh and Vu Lan.

For the whole family

Split the list into groups, for example father's side and mother's side; with the Dòng họ (Clan) plan, by branch and household.
Send the list (or one group) to relatives by link; the recipient clicks "Import" to get their own copy, with no account needed.
Import a long list from an Excel or CSV spreadsheet using the template, and preview it before saving.

Your data

No account needed: the list stays in your browser and is not sent to a server.
Sign in with Google when you want to sync the list between your phone and computer.
Download a backup at any time, and delete all data when you no longer need it. Details in the Privacy Policy.
